Network diversity and radical innovation: Research in the UK and Italian motorsport industries
The purpose of this research is to explore and further explain ‘diversity’ in inter-firm networks. Diversity refers to the variety of information and resources associated with having a network in which the information and resources a firm gets from its partners are unique and non-redundant. The primary interest is to uncover the characteristics of organizational capability in managing diverse contacts and to understand how firms develop this capability. The research will also seek to examine how diversity of contacts may lead to radical (discontinuous) innovations.
The project is supported by the Government Motorsport Unit (GMU) and the Advanced Institute of Management Research (AIM) in their efforts to promote best practice in the UK motorsport industry and encourage increased levels of collaboration and partnerships between motorsport companies as the gateway to innovation.
